News Review 2014-2015

November
1st November: The annual Remembrance Parade was held, followed by a wreath laying ceremony at the nearly war cemetery, as organised by the Royal British Legion. The Deputy Mayor of Ribble Valley, veterans, Balderstone Brass Band and, as ever, a large group of bikers, all paraded across the site before taking part in a service in St Luke’s.
The event was even more poignant
as it is not only a century since the Great War but also 100 years since
the Calderstones site was given to the War Office for use in that conflict.
11th November: The innovative ‘Soul of Leadership’ course about compassionate leadership in the NHS began at Bank End Barn.
12th November: 322 course and vocational certificates were awarded to service users at a ceremony at
St Luke’s. The Chairman and Chief Executive, as well as guests from the local college and other education partners presented 126 credited certificates, 140 certificates of achievement and a great many other awards, in subjects such as craft, IT, maths, sport and money management. The Principal of Accrington and Rossendale College told service users how much they deserve the certificates for their work and skills.
19th November: The Chief
Executive and other senior staff attended the Foundation Trust Network (now NHS Providers) event to hear the Secretary of State. There was much discussion of mental health parity with physical health, as well as sessions on Board Assurance and Governance.
24th November: Herbstones Restaurant, which was refurbished earlier this year, was featured in the catering press with links to a video featuring the catering manager Peter Gardner demonstrating the kitchen’s state of the art multi-functional appliances.
