September
3rd September: This morning support worker Viv spotted a female Sparrowhawk perched on a fence on Maplewood. The unusual visitor fascinated service uses and staff as
it posed for a photo.
12th September: Yeeha! Service users had great fun, learning co-ordination and relaxation skills with their OTs line dancing this afternoon.
18th September: Our Chairman and Chief Executive are joining the discussion at today's meeting of senior Foundation Trust leaders. Meanwhile, staff attend a meeting of NHS and third sector teams at Blackburn Cathedral’s Lancashire Heath Expo where discussions include how technology can improve health awareness.
25th September: Off site, some R&D staff were at a very engaging “Let’s Talk Research” Conference. A staff health and wellbeing event was held
in Herbstones Restaurant. This was followed by the Trust’s Annual Members’ Meeting in a packed St Luke’s. The Mayor of Ribble Valley is in attendance. As well as the formal business of the presentation of the accounts, members heard from service users and staff. The Lead Governor announced improved channels for service users to be involved and he reported that governors feel supported and engaged. Award winning nurse Lynsey Brown talked about her experiences with LD nursing in prisons and introduced a video featuring her work with service users. CEO Mark Hindle told members of the positivity of working with service users, about our animal assisted therapy successes and his recent Big Conversation engagement events. Mark also looked ahead to future plans for how the Trust must change to fit the wider health economy.
26th September: Health Education North West published our research about LGBT service users who attend our onsite support group The Avenue. It concluded: “the project is now accepted as an integral part of the Trust’s activities. LGBT service users are encouraged to attend, and the value of the project to them is widely recognised.”
27th September: The Chief Executive gave the 'Expert Interview' to Green Park about stakeholder engagement and revealed his proudest professional achievement. Mark describes: “leading my current organisation to increasingly provide person-centred, high quality care and leading a culture of recovery and rehabilitation for some of the most vulnerable people in society.”
