August
7th August: To commemorate the centenary of the start of the First World War, the Mayor of Ribble Valley, Cllr Michael Ranson, planted a tree at Calderstones Park, the housing development where most of the old hospital site used to be. The Mayor was joined by local dignitaries representing the parish and parish council, the Royal British Legion, Whalley Scout Group and Calderstones, as represented by the Director of Finance. We also set up a dedicated web page to mark our own commemoration.
Later this month, former Trust governor Mel Diack joins members of the British and Belgium Royal Families at a First World War commemoration in Belgium.
19th August: A new term began for many service users. They started vocational courses this month on site or with the local college and voluntary groups. They are learning essentials of catering, art, maths, bike safety, reading and much more as part of their care pathway, equipping them with life skills and formal qualifications.
22nd August: Mark Hindle Tweeted:
“Had a great morning talking to service users and some great staff on our MSU.”
