3rd: July The Shannon Trust returned to Calderstones to promote reading and working with OTs and service users.
10th July : The Clitheroe Advertiser ran a story about the Trust’s successful clinical research programme.
11th July: The Care Quality Commission completed a week-long planned inspection of Calderstones, involving over 60 inspectors.
It formed Wave 2 of their Mental
Health Pilot schedule.
15th July: Several of our Occupational Therapy staff graduated at a ceremony at Carlisle Cathedral with foundation degrees, proudly wearing their gowns and mortar boards.
16th July: Service users and staff attended the National Recovery and Outcomes Conference at the National Motorcycle Museum in Birmingham.
18th July: We welcomed Accrington and Rossendale College students and the production team who were filming a war-time drama sequence using the older parts of our site.
Actors were dressed in period costume and a drone camera is used to record one sequence. In related news, we prepared an exhibition on site to chart our Trust's proud history as military hospital during the early 20th century, with special thanks to a local historian and former Trust employee who keeps detailed records and has a huge collection of archive photographs of the organisation in its former guise.
He also recorded a short interview with BBC Radio Lancashire as part of their commemoration of the centenary of the Great War.
31st July: The Nursing Times Rising Star award winning nurse Lynsey Brown told the Trust Board about
her experience of the importance of supporting people with learning disabilities in prison settings. Lynsey’s presentation was in addition to the regular service user-led sequence which starts each board meeting.
