13th March: Our Shared College reported that more than 20 service users were awarded certificates in Bikeability from local cycling experts GoVelo.
20th March: A number of our nurses led workshops and a stand at Cumbria University at their latest highly successful nursing employment day. Lynsey Brown spoke to LD nursing students about the reality behind the headlines of supporting people on the wards.
23rd March: A major Equality and Diversity event saw many service users, governors, a commissioner and staff at all levels carry out a thorough evaluation of the equality delivery system. Mark Hindle described the day as about giving ‘equal access and equal voice’. Among the highlights were the personal testimonies of a number of service users who gave a great deal of positive input into the day.
25th March: "Staff are committed to providing good care," reported research firm CRT ViewPoint in an article about how we use tablet devices for satisfaction surveys.
27th March: The head of R&D attended an event in Manchester celebrating MH & LD Nursing which includes a thought provoking talk by the RCN’s Chief Executive.
Also, later in the day, our Director of Finance Nik Khashu rounded off his first year in post by being presented with his flagship Nye Bevan Programme graduation by the Chief Executive of NHS England.
28th March: Carers and family members met the Chief Executive and senior staff for another special weekend meeting. Billed as an informal and informative day, one carer reported: “We really enjoyed Saturday, it was very informative, and you had the chance to put your questions forward. ...it is also good that you are having carers’ meetings and we can voice our opinions, which is essential as we are experts by experience.” There were presentations on topics such as speech and language therapy, as well as detail on the Trust’s strategic plans and partnership working.
There was also a photocall to celebrate the achievement of the prestigious Gold Star from the Triangle of Care. Mark said carers bring “great insight, great passion.” Ruth Hannan, national lead for the Triangle of Care, publically congratulated the Trust saying we were “demonstrating our commitment to carers.”
30th March: It was announced that the Trust is to receive the Workplace Wellbeing Charter national award which demonstrates our commitment to staff health.
