January
1st January: We teased social media followers with New Year news about another national award nomination for service users and staff, with details to be announced by the organisers later. It was later revealed to be our LGBT group The Avenue, shortlisted at the National Service
User Awards 2015.
15th January: Professor Len Bowers, creator of the Safewards model, gave an inspiring presentation to service users and staff as part of launch day event at St Luke’s. The programme seeks to reduce the need for restrictive practices and reduce the number of injuries sustained as a result. The Professor said: “I was impressed by the wisdom and skills of the clinical staff and their managers, and welcomed their enthusiasm for putting Safewards into practice. I wish them all well with their efforts to reduce conflict and containment over the next 12 months.” The event also heard from staff at our pioneer sites at Gisburn and Scott House, who also brought visual displays to demonstrate their work.
16th January: We welcomed two groups of medical students from Lancaster University who were visiting. They were being supported by our senior doctors and the Occupational Therapy team.
22nd January: Our senior Doctors led a successful 'training the appraiser' event, ensuring professional standards, integrity
and insight.
23rd January: Two of our forensic team were in Bridgend sharing excellence and training the NHS Wales Community LD Team on the risk mitigation profile.
February
6th February : Artwork by female service users illustrating their inner goddess was displayed at Whalley Library. Later, after a successful month-long exhibition the women celebrate with a party in the library.
7th February: A recruitment fayre, organised by our HR team and featuring Trust colleagues from many disciplines, was held in St Luke’s, attracting interest from would-be employees.
