Executive Directors
Dr. Fran Foster
Medical Director
Appointed Medical Director on 1 August 2010.
Dr Foster is the Trust’s Caldicott Guardian and plays a key role in ensuring that we satisfy the highest practical standards for handling patient identifiable information.

member of the Finance & Risk Committee. Chair of the Clinical Audit Committee and Research and Development Committee)
23 years working in mental health and
learning disability services. Dr Foster continues to provide clinical input into community, enhanced and secure services as a consultant psychiatrist. Her main areas of interest are clinical quality improvement, research and innovation and medical workforce development.
Qualifications
MBBS (London 1989), MRCPsych, PhD (Research, Manchester 2001).
Paula Braynion
Director of Operations and Nursing
Paula worked as a Nurse Therapist and Nurse Consultant in medium and low secure care for a number of years. She moved to Pennine Care as Deputy Director of Nursing and was appointed as Service Director, Specialist Services in rehabilitation and high support, CAMHS and drug and alcohol services in 2007.
Qualifications
Registered Nurse (Mental Health), Postgraduate Diploma in Counselling, Masters in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Post graduate Diploma in Management and Leadership (Distinction).
Nikhil Khashu
Executive Director of Finance and Information
Appointed as Director on 3 March 2014.
Nik joined the NHS in 1997 as a graduate of the NHS national training scheme, qualifying as a Chartered Accountant. He has worked at a variety of NHS organisations including community and specialist children's trusts, SHA and acute teaching hospitals. Nik's previous position was as Deputy Director of Finance & Information at St Helens & Knowsley NHS Trust.
In March 2015, Nik graduated from the NHS Nye Bevan Leadership Academy.
Qualifications
BSc economics and accounting; MSc information technology for management; Postgraduate diploma in Managing Healthcare Organisations; CIPFA Chartered Institute of Public Finance Accountants.
John Smith
Executive Medical Director and Responsible Officer for Medical Revalidation
Appointed on 1st May 2014.

John is a dually qualified registered Nurse (Mental Health and Learning Disabilities), with over thirty five years’ experience working in the NHS in both hospital and community settings including in senior managerial positions. John is currently a specialist advisor to the Care Quality Commission.
Qualifications
Diploma in Professional Studies in Nursing; Cert Ed, Registered Nurse Tutor; BA (Hons) Health Studies, Health Management - Lancaster; MBA (Distinction) - Manchester; Diploma in Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP).
