Stakeholder Relations
The opening of ‘Our Shared College’ – the name for the training and vocational courses available to service users – has helped to provide a formal base for many existing partnerships. The Trust has strong relationships with Accrington and Rossendale College, who deliver a number of courses, as well as with the council and local groups such as cycling experts
Go Velo. The college was formally opened in late 2014 by the Mayor
and a detailed prospectus of
subjects available to service users demonstrates the range of partnerships and opportunities available.
There are several less formal relationships with organisations that support service users’ development such as in Nordern for those at Scott House, Whalley library for art exhibitions and with local health economy stakeholders conducting PLACE assessments.
In 2014/15 the Trust began to work with Mersey Care NHS Trust to look at the clinical benefits of the two organisations delivering high quality sustainable health care together. This has involved commissioners and regulators and also reflects national policy.
The Trust’s research and development team have a strong reputation for the quality of their academic work.
This culminates in their annual “Excellence in Research Innovation and Collaboration” showcase and includes guest speakers from the bodies which the Trust plays a role in, such as the North West Coast NIHR Clinical Research Network. There are ongoing partnerships with researchers from various universities, as detailed in Patient Care. The Trust sponsors significant events such as the Learning Disability Offenders conference in Leeds.
Trust staff are also involved in partnerships including as the visiting professor at the University of Chester and with LD experts across the country in publishing research.
