Calderstones Partnership NHS Foundation Trust 07 Yearbook 2014 - 2015
We returned the highest scores for all Mental Health Trusts for how staff are supported by their managers, for good communications and for well-structured appraisals. We are in the top 20 per cent for staff engagement and no area showed a deterioration since the last survey.
This means that over time non-secure services will no longer be provided by Calderstones. We will continue to provide low and medium secure services for people with learning disabilities but as an organisation we will be much smaller. As a much smaller organisation providing secure services, our priority is to ensure that there is a continued provision of safe and sustainable services for people with learning disabilities in the future - and the reality of this means that we need to work with others.
With partners we believe that we can improve the experience for service users and shorten their care pathway. We are developing an outline business case about how Calderstones can work collaboratively with Mersey Care NHS Trust in the next financial year. The Board are supportive and I have also spoken to around 600 members of staff in the latest round of
‘Big Conversations’ and I have ensured that commissioners, families and carers and many others have been well briefed on our chosen direction
of travel.
The last year has seen unprecedented challenges and scrutiny. This year will see the Trust face others as we make ourselves fit, ready and agile for the next stage in how we support some of the most vulnerable people in society.
I warmly thank Board colleagues - current and recent - and all staff for their support, their commitment and their professionalism. Now, more than ever, it is needed and valued.
